The Snow, it's a Coming

It's official guys, our governor has declared Missouri in a state of emergency. The snow hasn't even hit yet (although we did get a nice little ice shower this morning) and the University has cancelled classes (this never happens) and all non-critical clinics which means I get a snow day!

You know the little scroll that goes across the top of the t.v. with all the closings listed? It should just say the name of our town and cancelled. It would be so much more efficient that way.

We're expected to get between 16-20 inches of snow. I can't even comprehend that.

I plan on using my snow day to take long naps cuddled up with my boys, update this blog of mine, and organize the spice pantry. Exciting stuff. I'm also going to make sure I have all the ingredients I need to make lots of delicious food and I'm not going to feel guilty about eating it one bit.

Happy Birthday Ben!

Two years ago today J and I welcomed the most beautiful baby boy into the world. He has changed our lives more than we could have ever imagined and we are so thankful that he's part of our family.

Happy Birthday Ben. We love you!!!

Gym Antics

Today was the second morning in a row that I have gone to the gym at 5:30 in the morning. Although I hate getting up that early and I'm extremely tired I feel so much better once it's over.

I'm the kind of person that if I put it off until the end of the day I just won't go. By the time I get home from work, make dinner, and play with little man, I'm pooped and just want to relax.

Another great thing about going to the gym early in the morning? Seeing all the schinanagins that go on so early like...
-the guy lifting 50lb weights while trying to check out a girl and almost dropping said weight
-the majority of guys looking at each other and trying to one up each other with more reps, larger weights, etc.
-the girl who got fully ready with hair and make-up just to work out. AT 5:30am!!

No Throwing Snow in the House

Since Ben hasn't been feeling well we didn't take him out in the newly fallen snow and instead J decided to bring the snow inside to him.

Right after this, I saw a snowball whiz past my face.

A Snow Day Through Iphone Pics

I think the official count was 8.7 inches and as I type this 4-6 more inches are on the way. Our snow day also turned into a sick day as poor Ben did not feel well:(

Born to be a Star

The other night Ben's preschool had their "Winter Gala" at a local church. As usual, Ben did FANTASTIC and was the cutest one there if I do say so myself. Excuse the picture quality, the lighting was horrible, but I had to document the sweetness.

Weekend Recap

This past weekend was pretty relaxing and stress free.

I got a lot of laundry done and J and I watched both Catfish and Dinner for Schmucks.

Catfish was really good. Not at all what I expected. From the previews, Dinner for Schmucks looked pretty cheesy and lame but it turned out to be hilarious.

Sunday we went to church and that evening we went to J's cousin's house to celebrate December and January birthdays.
J's cousin just moved into a new house and they have a really great play room. Can you tell they have two girls?

And last but not least, thanks to this guy I have tomorrow off. He's awesome. And not just because I get to sleep in.

Who Needs Water?

Not this guy.

His new thing is to play in the bath tub without any water. Whatever floats his boat.

So Long

Last night marked the 2nd of two going away dinners I've attended recently for co-workers who are leaving. This one was particularly sad however because not only is Anna leaving work, but she's moving to a different city two hours away.

I'm so excited for her and all the things the future holds. We will miss you Anna!

Dinner and The Little Gym

The other night a group from work went out to dinner for my co-worker Megan's last day. It was a great dinner and a great way to send Megan off to her new job.

The next night we took Ben to his first class at The Little Gym.
He had such a blast. He is in the "Little Beast" class. They do group songs and dances, play with bubbles, and try a few skill building activities. They also have free time where Ben is allowed to run around and play on the equipment.

J and I were so proud of him. He had quite a few skills and did things we didn't even know he could do like swing from the bars. His actual classes start January 19th and I know Ben can't wait to go back.

The $5 disaster

The other day as I was trying to upload pictures for a post a message popped up that I had used my 1GB of free space. In order to continue to add pics to this little blog I would need to purchase more space. The cost of 20 more GB was a measly little $5.

Hmmm...I wonder if instead of paying the $5 I could just delete the photos from my google web album. After all, they are already on my blog. The.dumbest.thought.ever.

Turns out it doesn't work like that. When I hit delete I wasn't really erasing the pics from my web album but from Google's server. And there is no undo button. 4 days and countless hours later of going back through every blog post and re-adding pictures I was done.

Lesson learned. Pay the $5.

Our Crazy New Years Eve

Our New Years Eve was wild this year. We started the party off early with ice cream.

And followed it with pizza and puppy dog pajamas.

And after the little man was in bed we watched

Until it was time for the ball drop.

We wouldn't have had it any other way.

Year in Review: 2010

In 2010 I:
  • watched my baby turn one year old
  • traveled across 2 states to see Elmo
  • graduated with my Masters degree
  • got a big girl job
  • hung out with old friends
  • made new ones
  • ate lots of delicious food
  • didn't work out enough
  • laughed and fought with J
  • taught Ben his colors, numbers, and to poop in the potty
  • organized and successfully pulled off the work Christmas party
  • was reminded over and over how much I love J's family
  • saw J become an uncle for the first time
  • taught a child with autism to talk
  • rode in a limo
  • celebrated my 2nd mother's day
  • turned another year older
  • saw lady Antebellum and Tim McGraw in concert
  • laughed uncontrollably at things my child said and did
  • cooked and tried to cook a variety of new foods
  • vowed to J I would never cook some recipes again
  • celebrated as close friends got engaged, married, and learned they were pregnant
  • struggled
  • smiled
  • started a blog
  • experienced what life is all about
Cheers to 2011. May it be a wonderful year!
