We're No Brian or Kristy

Boitano and Yamaguchi that is. But that doesn't mean we didn't have a lot of fun on the ice.

J and I decided to go on a little ice skating date and while it had been forever since either one of us had skated, we got the hang of it pretty quickly.

J managed not to fall at all and I only took a little spill while trying to exit off the ice. We had so much fun and definitely plan on going back. After skating we picked up dinner from one of our favorite bbq restaurants and watched The Town which we both really liked.

Little Bits of Love

I hope you all had a fabulous Valentine's Day!

Friday night we went to dinner with some friends at our favorite steak place.

The next morning I took Ben to Barnes and Noble for story time which of course was Valentine's Day themed. He listened to a few stories, made a card for daddy, and got a special little treat.

Sunday morning we got up bright and early for breakfast with my parents and then headed over to their house so Ben could open his Valentine's presents.

That afternoon I made these which looked so promising on the box, but mine clearly did not turn out as well as the picture.

I also put the finishing touches on the Valentine cards Ben's taking to school. I didn't want to do the traditional cartoon ones that you buy at the store so I found these cute printables and made my own.

And Valentine's Day wouldn't be complete without a gift to my man so I finished that as well.
The idea came from an issue of Martha Stewart Living magazine. You simply glue each envelope to the one above it and then in each slot you put a little something. I decided to do pictures representing our life over the past 4 years. You could also do gift cards, movie ticket stubs, concert tickets, etc.

Since the actual holiday feel on a weekday we didn't do anything too exciting but tried to make our everyday activities more Valentiney. J got me some beautiful flowers and Ben had a little party at his preschool. It was breakfast for dinner night so I made it as pink and heart shaped as could be.

Snow Ice Cream

What do you do when you have 19 inches of snow on your lawn that just won't melt? Make snow ice cream of course!

I wasn't that impressed with the recipe I used so we decided to make snow slushies with juice instead.
Ahh, much better!

What's your favorite snow ice cream recipe?

A New Pair of Wheels

Someone convinced his daddy to put together his new wheels he got for his birthday. And to let him ride it inside since it's -7 degrees outside.

Hello 2am. It's Been a While

This past weekend the wonderful Mrs. Bojangles and I packed up and headed to St. Louis for our friend Adi's bachelorette party. We had so much fun and it was the first time in a long time all of us had been out together without the guys around. It's always nice to catch up and have some girl time, ya know.

Adi had lots of friends and family come to celebrate. We stayed at the Ameristar Casino, Resort, and Spa and the place was fabulous! I was little skeptical since typically the words casino and spa don't go together very well, but the place was gorgeous and enormous.

We had plans to venture outside of the hotel, but with freshly fallen snow and freezing temperatures we decided to stay in and go to one of the several restaurants and bars they had inside the hotel.

We couldn't let the bride to be go out with her crown and sash.

We staked our claim at the Bottleneck Blues Bar and fortunately for us there was an 80's hair band playing. Needless to say there was LOTS of dancing and even more singing going on.

A chandelier made from bottle tops.

Surprisingly we were up pretty early the next morning for breakfast before heading back home. Now the countdown to the wedding is on. 4 more weeks!

Yesterday was our final day of being snowed in. Our street was plowed and after I dug a path at the end of our driveway we are officially free! I also have to give a huge shout out to our neighbor who helped me navigate up our street!

I think the final number was around 19 inches of snow. And it's supposed to snow again on Sunday. I didn't capture many pictures of the snow, but here are a few.

With temperatures and wind chill below 0, we didn't even get to take Ben out to play in it. It's amazing how many things on my long to-do list didn't get accomplished. Since I went to the gym early Monday morning before the snow started, I only missed working out Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday which all of a sudden seems like a lot when I type it out. But you'll be happy to know I did go this morning, even though my car said this. Woof.

Worse than the temperatures however are the weather forecaster's who like to make little puns about how a heat wave is gonna hit and it's going to be 30 degrees.

Despite the cold, I am so excited for this weekend. A bunch of my girlfriends are meeting up in St. Louis for our friend Adi's bachelorette party. The classy no stripper, girl talk, stay up way too late reminiscing kind of party. We're all way too old for the other.

Happy Weekend!

A Yo Gaba Gaba Birthday

After all the planning and preparation, Ben's birthday party was a success. Everyone seemed to have fun and most importantly the birthday boy had a blast. With Ben's obsession with Yo Gaba Gaba, I knew that we had no choice but to have a character themed birthday this year.

Wide awake and ready to celebrate.

Enjoying a special heart shaped breakfast.

After breakfast we spent the morning playing, picking up cake, and finishing up last minute details for the party. Then it was time for a nap and when Ben woke up, the party began.
All the delicious food. It's always pretty stressful at the last minute finishing up all the food and getting it out, but so worth it when you're eating it :)

No party's complete without friends and family.

A local bakery made the cake and the little characters are made of fondant.

Have I mentioned this boy is spoiled?

Wearing one of his new presents.

I can't believe how much he's changed in one year.

One of my favorite pictures of all time.

I can't wait to see how much Ben changes over the next year and what his next birthday will have in store!
