Wedding Update

Can you believe it's been over a month since I got my rock and I have yet to do a post about the big day? So, let's see what I've accomplished so far.

-we've set a date, May 5, 2012
-booked the church
-booked the reception venue (cocktail hour followed by dinner)
-decided on our honeymoon destination, hello Italy
-celebrated our engagement with a little luau party
-sent out these little numbers to my bridal party

Although I still have lots left to do, I think the fact that I still have 11 months to get everything together is keeping me from panicking.

Happy Birthday Mom!

Today is my mom's birthday so a big ole shout out to her. We celebrated last night with dinner at our house followed by cake and presents. Ben had a great time playing with his cousins and it was a great opportunity to work on his sharing skills:) Only child syndrome.

Happy Birthday Mom, We love you!

Not So Cute

10 Not so Cute Things About Me:
1. I'm really bad about returning phone calls and texts. Like really really bad.
2. I tend to interrupt people.
3. I'm overly sensitive and cry way too much.
4. I don't always follow through on things I say I'm going to do.

6. I don't save nearly as much as I should.
7. I don't like reading blogs where the author is really ugly. Judge away.

9. I'm not as organized as I like to think I am.
10. I use to be early or on time for everything, now I'm usually running 5-10 minutes behind.

Just Call Us The Waltons

Well maybe not quite, but the fact that our little plants are growing and I'm cooking from the Pioneer Women's recipes that has to count for something right?

I posted here about the start of our little seeds and I'm happy to report that we didn't kill them. Yet. Once they started to sprout we knew we needed to transfer them to the ground but with our bunny friend always hanging around we didn't think the plants would make it without being eaten. And our hard work was not about to become that bunny's dinner.

Who wants to come over for peppers, tomatoes, and some broccoli?

Weekend Recap

Friday night J and I got to steal some time away and go to dinner and a movie with our friends. It was their turn to pick the flick and they chose a great one.
I hadn't seen previews for Super 8 and went in not knowing what to expect. The kids in the movie were awesome and I liked that it wasn't your typical sci-fi alien film.

I had to work for a few hours on Saturday morning at an art for autism event where children with autism and their siblings create all different kinds of artwork which are auctioned off at a gallery later in the year. I managed to score my very own piece of art from a very talented teenager which will be getting framed and hung in J's office.

Saturday afternoon we attended a Curious George birthday party for Ben's cousins. Both sister's birthdays are close together so we can knock out two celebrations at once.

Sunday was church followed by lunch at my sisters. After a much needed nap for everyone, we took advantage of the 70 degree weather and headed to the park.

Hope you all had a fabulous weekend!

A Weekend Outdoors

This weekend was full of family and fun outdoors. We started off the weekend with a picnic at the park on Friday night with my sister and her family. Don't let the word night fool you into thinking that the temperatures might have cooled down. It was still a sweltering 90+ degrees hence the reason why I do not make an appearance in any of the pictures from this weekend. Me sweating like a man doesn't need to be captured for future generations.

How cute are those little fluffy babies?
This picture is right before Ben took one step too close and his little foot slipped into the water. He was fine but I don't think the momma goose was too pleased and quickly swam away.

Another thing I love about our town besides all the great parks, are the different family activities and festivals we have. Saturday we took the kids to Art in the Park which is a two day festival filled with local art, musicians, food, and activities for kids.

Saturday turned out to be even hotter than Friday so Popsicles were a necessity.

It worked out perfectly that Art in the Park just happened to be at the same park that also has a splash pad and we came prepared with the kids swim stuff so they could cool off.

Ben gently trying to drag guide his cousin into the water.

A little snack after all that water play. No festival is complete without funnel cake.

Sunday consisted of  church and lunch at my parent's house. That afternoon daddy surprised Ben with a new pool and they both had so much fun splashing around.

What did you all do this weekend? Did you sweat like a man or manage to stay cool?
