Life Update

Wondering why I haven't posted much lately?

Work has been crazy and I've been trying to stay afloat, but I promise to post more often.

In more exciting news, our town has a local version of Groupon and we got this pizza for $2! Too bad it wasn't as delicious as it looked.

Thursday night the weather was gorgeous and we enjoyed a picnic dinner at the park. How cool is this picnic shelter?

Our weekend was spent eating our weight in pizza, organizing the house and watching these 3 movies. No Strings Attached and Horrible Bosses was good, but save yourself some time and skip How Do You Know.

Sunday was spent at the pool and putting the finishing touches on some furniture for Ben's big boy room.

It's Monday + An Announcement

Oh Monday, we meet again.

I am trying to approach the day like this

Instead of this

And I have some exciting news! I'm going to be running my first 1/2 marathon.
Today was my first official day of training and I took my mile baseline, which I may or may not share later:) I'll be following a strict training program in an effort to get me ready for this beast on Sunday October 23rd.
It's no secret that I don't love running and the last time I trained for one of these bad boys J and I came down with the worst flu and my parents had to convince me that after all my hard work, it was not a good idea to try and tough it out and do it anyway. Here's to hoping I don't get sick this time around and that the medic doesn't have to drag me of the course.

Anyone want to do it with me? :)

Happiness Is...

Loving someone because you choose to, not because you have to

Really great friends who you know will always be there

Loving someone more than you could have ever imagined

Going back to school to finish your Master's degree even after having a baby.

Getting to work with amazing co-workers who quickly become your friends.

A baby's smile

Having loving, supporting parents you can always depend on

Watching your best friends have babies of their own

Having family close by

A warm place to sleep

Finding that special person with whom you can be 100% yourself.

Thanks to Natasha over at Hello Happiness for this great blog post idea!

Weekend Recap

Oh weekend, how quickly you leave us. Despite lots of relaxing, I still managed to get a handful of things done around the house.

My weekend started on Friday when my niece and I went to Six Flags for the day.

Friday night ended with a literal bang when I dropped my phone and cracked the screen.

Saturday we woke up bright and early and I pulled up weeds from our "flower" bed which is more like a "half alive bush bed." Even in the 105 degree weather and no rain, weeds continue to grow. It's mother nature's little kick in the arse. J mowed the law before it got too hot and Ben helped by drawing with side walk chalk.

How cute is this little topiary dinosaur? It was a nice little garage sale find for a $1.

Our homemade stepping stone.

While Ben and J napped, my mom, sister, niece, and I went to look at wedding dresses. After trying on several I think I found the ONE.

Ben spent the night at J's parent's house on Saturday night so we took the opportunity to go to dinner and a movie which was way better than expected. Especially James Franco's acting. I wasn't expecting much from him after the disaster that was the Oscars.

Sunday we just hung around the house. Ben took a really long nap and I was able to catch up on laundry, do some cleaning, and watch a few oldy but goody 90210 episodes. Does anyone else think that Susan and Brandon were perfect for each other?

This little guy was not too happy to be awoken from his slumber.

Our plans to get ice cream were quickly ruined when thunderstorms rolled through town but these two didn't seem to mind. Like father like son.

I'm ending the weekend with a big glass of wine and hopping I can stay awake for a movie.

Another Birthday Celebration: 2 Year Old Style

J wasn't the only one lately who celebrated a birthday. My cute little niece turned the big 0-2 and we celebrated with a pool party and then BBQ and bounce house at my parent's.

At one point in the night everything was really quiet. Too quiet. When I went upstairs to check on the kids this is what I found.
10 years ago he would have never believed me if I said this would be his life.

Happy Birthday Elizabeth!
