Wedding Wednesday

65 days and counting....holy cow. I remember when it was 300 days and thinking it was so far away.

People are always asking me if I'm nervous and my response is that I'm nervous for the wedding but definitely not the marriage.

J and I have been together 5 years and with the little surprise that was Ben, we were forced into a marriage like relationship even though we aren't technically married. The honeymoon phase in our relationship is long over. I know what kind of father J is. And I got really lucky he's a great one. Our relationship is far from perfect, but we're committed to each other and to our family and we've done that without being married. With that being said, I'm looking forward to calling J my husband, to sport our wedding bands, and to legally and officially claim half his stuff. I kid. Maybe:)

I am nervous about all of the finals details coming together. One thing that has helped calm my nerves is making to do list after to do list. Let's take a look at the latest version of the to-do list shall we?
  • Order cake
  • Decide on and order party favors Ordered those today. It may or not involve food. We didn't want to give our guests some little trinket they would never use again and who doesn't love food.
  • Re-new passport (me)
  • Get passport (J)
  • Order and get measurements for Tuxedos
  • Finish buying bridesmaid gifts
  • Pick out bridesmaid jewelry
  • Order bubbles for after ceremony Done. I even found silver bubble containers to go with our silver and black colors.
  • Pick out flower arrangements Appointment this Friday.
  • Finish registering
  • Order wedding rings
  • Find bridal shower dress
  • Find bridal luncheon dress
  • Find rehearsal dinner dress
  • Finalize rehearsal dinner details Although my MIL is graciously doing this, I am way to OCD to give her full control:) Best part, she loves me anyway.
  • Plan bridal luncheon-decide on menu
  • Order "guest book" Found ours on Etsy. We're not doing the traditional guest book and once it arrives I will show you all what it looks like.
  • Address and mail invitations. The final ones were addressed today.
Our invitations. Yes we used labels instead of hand writing them. I know some people say that's a big no no, but times, they are a changing. And although they look white in the picture we used clear labels which I think still makes them look classy.

And you may be wondering why our invitation is to the President. Well for all you future brides, did you know that if you mail the President your wedding invitation they will send you back a personalized letter? Pretty cool huh? Unless you don't like the current President. Then you may need to convince your groom to push the wedding back another 4 years.

Let's wrap up this post with some of my favorite wedding pins as of late

Ben's 3rd Birthday

It's been almost a month since Ben's 3rd birthday party and I am just now getting around to posting about it. Mom.of.the.year.

Ben chose a Thomas the Train themed party and although my love for character themed parties is luke warm, with the help of the interwebs, particularly Pinterest, I've learned you can take any party, even one with talking trains, and make it somewhat chic. Somewhat.

This will probably be the last year we do a family only party since Ben is getting older and making more friends at school. I'm thinking we'll do something like the Little Gym next year and bonus-no clean up at our home.

Ben was surrounded by lots of family and was spoiled rotten.

I had done a chili and toppings bar for a friend's baby shower earlier this year and re-created it for Ben's birthday.

This was the best picture I could get of the two of us. Someone didn't want to hold still long enough. Apparently I'm not as cool as his new Toy Story toys.

Family Pic Take 1.

Family pic Take 2. I digress.

Happy Birthday little man. I can't believe you are already 3. To me you will always be my baby no matter how old you are.

Oreo Layer Desert

I needed a quick and easy desert to take up to J's parents for dinner and found this yummy on Pintrest

Here's what you need:
1 pkg of regular Oreos
1/2 c. of butter
1 lg box of instant chocolate pudding
2-8 oz cool whips
8 oz. of cream cheese, softened
1 c. powdered sugar

Crush the whole package of cookies either with a food processor, or in a bag and a rolling pin. Save a 1/2 c. to sprinkle on top of dessert when it's done. (I just crushed mine up in a ziploc bag)
Pour remaining crumbs in a 13x9 pan. Melt butter and pour into crumb mix. Stir it up good and press crumbs in bottom of pan to make a crust.

Make chocolate pudding according to package directions and let it setup in the fridge.

In a mixing bowl blend cream cheese until nice and smooth and then add powdered sugar, mix. Then fold in 1-8 oz thing of cool whip. Top oreo layer with cream cheese mix.
I like to spoon it on in little drops. I found it helps it to spread better.

Next, top the cream cheese layer with the pudding.

Then top that with your last 8 oz thing of cool whip, and sprinkle remaining Oreo's on top. Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.

This recipe was delicious and most importantly super easy. The only thing I would change is I might double the cream cheese layer.

What new recipes have you all tried?

Sesame Street LIVE

A few weeks ago we went to see Sesame Street Live. Ben got tickets for his birthday from my parents and if you read this post you know it's not our first time to see the gang.

The best part about this one? Not having to travel 3+ hours.

The show was great, the music was cute, and Ben left with a huge smile.
Anxiously awaiting the start of the show. Don't mind that Ben and J are in almost identical shirts. Twinkes those two are.
