Easter 2013

Ben was up bright and early on Easter morning ready to see what the Easter Bunny had brought him.

After church we went over to my parent's house for lunch and an egg hunt.

My parents, sister, and our kids.

Later that afternoon we went to J's parent's house since the Easter bunny left a basket there as well.

And then it was on to J's aunt's house with the rest of his family. You would think it was Christmas with all the goodies Ben got, including his first T-ball glove and bat!

The most exciting part...the Egg Hunt!

Hope you all had a wonderful Easter!

Easter Activities

I love Easter. Jesus, Spring, Eggs, Bunnies...what's not to love! Leading up to Sunday, we immersed ourselves in all things Easter.

Normally we visit Santa and the Easter Bunny at our local mall, but this year we decided to go to Bass Pro. Not only did we see the Bunny, but we got to participate in an Egg Hunt they had going on around the store.

The wait for the Easter Bunny was pretty long, about 30 minutes, but totally worth it. How cute is this picture! Ben and I had a discussion about how the Easter Bunny was not like Santa after he proceeded to tell the bunny things he wanted left in his basket.

We also went over to my sister's house to dye eggs.

And the egg dying continued once we got home. Although Ben did pretty well last year, this was the first year he was able to dye the eggs all on his own.

He even wrote his name on one.

We also made an egg for the new baby.

And daddy made a Spiderman mask one, which turned out to be Ben's favorite.

Ben also participated in a flashlight Easter Egg Hunt. We tried to sign up last year, but it was already booked. Although it wasn't dark enough to need flashlights when his age group went, he still thought it was neat to be in a park so late.

Ready, Set...

Easter Day coming up next!

Everyday Happenings

The last few weeks in exciting bullet points style...

  • We celebrated J's  grandma's birthday with pizza, cake, and lots of grandkids.

  • I failed my 1 hour glucose test by 7 points. Thankfully I went the next day for my 3 hour and passed!
  • Last week I came down with a bad cold. Normally when I get a cold I push through it but this one was bad. Thursday morning my throat was on fire, I couldn't stop blowing my nose, my eyes were watering, and I may have even broke down and cried at one point.
  • Thankfully by Sunday I was feeling much better and Ben and I caught a movie and enjoyed the beautiful weather we've been having with a trip to the park.

  • We had a play date with our cousins.

  • And just as I was feeling 100% better, Ben came down with a stomach bug. Thankfully it only lasted 24 hours but we were all exhausted from being up every hour during the middle of the night. This is maybe the 3rd time in his whole life he's thrown up and it was pitiful.

Knock on wood, everyone is feeling better! What have you been up to lately?

30 Weeks

A little late, but better late than never...
30 weeks!

Size of the baby: Almost 16 inches long and weighing in at a little over 3 pounds! Size of a head of cabbage.

Total weight gain: 22 lbs.

Maternity clothes: Maternity pants, mix of both maternity and regular tops. I still need to purchase a few more maternity clothes to get me through the home stretch. I've also been wearing some dresses since temperatures have been in the 70's.

Sleep: Still hard to get comfortable. I feel like I'm wallering around in the bed. Still some hip pain from sleeping on my side.

Gender: It's a boy!

Movement: Lots and lots. Still pretty active at night when I'm ready for bed.

Food cravings/aversions: Craving-yogurt with granola; Aversions-none really.

What I miss: Being comfortable and my old clothes!

Moment of the week: Passing my 3 hour glucose test with flying colors!

Disney: Epcot and Heading Home

Our final full day in Disney was spent at Epcot. This was my least favorite park and I thought it didn't have nearly as much to offer as the other 2. Next time we go back to Disney I would really like to go to Animal Kingdom.

Before heading off to Epcot we enjoyed some Mickey Mouse waffles for breakfast and Ben took a little dip in the pool while we waited for daddy to finish getting ready.

When we arrived we immediately spotted the famous Epcot Ball. Inside the ball is the ride Spaceship Earth so we made this our first stop.

During the ride they take your picture and at the end post them on t.v. screens outside. This was the best we got. I look pissed and J looks high on Disney. Ben was too short to be captured by the camera.

Also inside the ball are different games and learning centers. This air hockey type of game had you make energy in different parts of a city.

After Spaceship Earth, Ben had to use the restroom which led to us stumbling upon a meet and greet with our favorite characters. The best part was the wait was less than 5 minutes!
While we visited with the characters, J went and got us Fast Passes for Soarin and I'm glad he did as they ran out of them shortly after. Soarin is a really cool ride where you hang glide throughout different scenes of the country projected on a screen.

If you've never been to Epcot it is divided up into areas just like the other parks, but a lot of Epcot is the World Showcase. Each country has it's own area and some of the countries have rides. Epcot is a lot of walking, more than any other park.

We ran into Duffy upon entering the showcase. I'd never heard of Duffy, but apparently he is the Disney Bear.

After touring around the World Showcase, Ben quickly became bored so we headed over to some of the indoor learning areas where Ben played some games and learned about fire safety in a pretend house.

Ready for a ride, we decided on Ellen's Energy Adventure which was a mix of both videos and a ride. It was a little boring at times, the part with the Dinosaurs was really neat.

We made a quick ice cream stop before heading over to ride The Seas with Nemo. This was probably my most favorite ride. It's a mix of a slow moving ride and aquarium all in one. They also had screens hidden throughout so Nemo and his friends would seem to appear in the real life aquarium.
After the ride was over you could walk around the entire aquarium and see even more animals. Including the real live Nemo characters.

As it started to get dark we had time to kill before Reflections, a laser show on Epcot's lake as well the spectacular fireworks show.

We rode Journey Into the Imagination with Figment and then played in a play area right outside the ride.

By this time it was dark so we decided to ride Spaceship Earth one more time and head over to the fireworks.

We stopped briefly to look at the sea of cranberries and Ben was fascinated by the light up sidewalk.

And of course no trip to Disney is complete without a pair of ears.

By the time the show started Ben was tired and grouchy, but we had made it this far and we weren't leaving yet.
The fireworks were amazing and when it was over we booked it to Soarin to use our Fast Passes. I'm so glad we stuck it out because all 3 of us loved this ride.

As soon as the ride was over, Ben passed out and we made our way to the exit as the park was closing. We tried to wake Ben up for one last family photo, but this was the best we could get:)

The plane ride home was bitter sweet. We were ready to be home and in our own beds, but sad to be leaving such a fun place. Every time a Disney commercial comes on t.v. Ben talks about the trip and how much he wants to go back. He even came home crying the other day because his friend Jackson from school got to go and he wanted to go so badly.

This was really was one of the best trips of our lives and we can't wait to go back some day as a family of 4!

Goodbye Disney!
