Gone Fishing

This weekend was a pretty good mix of productivity and relaxation. Well as much as you can do of both with a 4 year old and 3 month old. Saturday I planned on getting out all my fall decorations, but it rained the whole day and J's mom and niece came over to eat lunch and hang out for the afternoon.

Sunday was beautiful so we took full advantage of the gorgeous weather and went fishing. My sister's friend lives on a huge farm with a lake full of fish just waiting to be caught. I fished a lot on family vacations with my dad, but it had been years and Ben's only experience fishing is his magnetic fishing pole fish puzzle.

Good thing he got the hang of it pretty quickly.

Reeling in a fish!

Uncle Chris getting the fish off the hook and showing Ben how to hold it

My fishing buddy

And while we fished, Jack slept, smiled, and ate

So glad my sister and her family invited us along to go fishing. Although J and I like the outdoors, there's no way either of us could put a worm on a hook or take the fish off the hook. I'm squirming just thinking about it:)

5 on Friday {On a Saturday}

This week has been busy busy so this is coming to you one day late. Better late than never:)

1. This week marked the end of my second week back at work. On my first day back I found these waiting at my desk from my sweet friend/co-worker Alissa.

2. One benefit of traveling all over the state? Imos! Our town doesn't have one anymore but thankfully they are scattered all over the St. Louis area. The best part is they have mini personal pizzas offered at lunch time. People either seem to love or hate Imos. I happen to love it. J hates it.

3. I got this from my awesome boss. It's the little things ya know?

4. Thursday night we watched my niece. Her and Ben got pretty into the TBall, it was so cute! One would hit the ball and the other one would go get it and throw it back down the hill.

5. This one might get me banned from the blogging world but... I don't like pumpkin flavored things. I KNOW! The only exception being pumpkinish scented candles. I so wish I could be like pumpkin spice latte this or pumpkin cookies that, but I just can't stand the taste.

Hope you have a fabulous weekend!

Jack {3 months}

Jack, you have been with us a whole 3 months. 3 months. You are most definitely growing. I used to be able to hold you with one arm with no problem at all, but it's becoming more of a challenge as you chunk up.
We are so thankful you are getting bigger. Shortly after you turned 2 months we went to your well child checkup and you hadn't gained much weight. You were in the 50% for height but only 10% for weight (10.4lbs). Long story short, after a couple of meetings with the lactation consultant and breastfeeding for 3 solid months, you now take formula 100% of the time and are doing so much better and gaining weight! We gave it a go, did the best we could, and I'm glad that I was able to do it as long as I could.
You don't have another appointment with the doctor until the end of October but I weighed you on the scale at home and you weigh 13lbs. Your face, arms, and legs are also filling out more. You are still in size 1 diapers and 0-3 month, 3 month, and a few 3-6 months clothes but those are still a little too big.

This month your smiles grew even bigger! You smile all.the.time. You LOVE when people look at and talk to you. You also became ticklish on your neck, thighs, and under your arms. When I tickle you, you let out the biggest laugh. It is SO cute!
You also love to suck on your fingers and hands and chew on the end of the lovey (yes, I'm careful and make sure you don't suffocate and choke). With the sucking comes lots of drooling and I think you will probably get teeth early just like your brother. His bottom two teeth came in around 4 months. One thing you still won't suck on...the pacifier. After trying almost every brand out there I've given up. When you get upset you would rather look around and be bounced on my lap then take a paci.
Since exclusively formula feeding, you take around 5-6 oz ounces at a time every 3-4 hours during the day. One thing that has improved drastically since starting formula is your sleeping! You go to bed around 6:45-7:15pm and sleep until 3 or 4, eat 6 oz, and then sleep again until 7-7:30. This past week you've slept from 7 until 5 or 5:30, eaten, and then slept again until 7:30 or 8:00. This is a huge improvement since right before switching to formula you had been waking up every 2-3 hours. Poor little guy, you must have been hungry! You usually take one long morning nap (3 hours) and then a little cat nap in the afternoon (1 hr). You still sleep in your sleep sack in your swing, but the swing is now in your own room! 1 step closer to the crib:)
You still love bath time, but don't enjoy the getting out or drying off. You don't get too upset when you have a wet or poppy diaper. You LOVE to be held facing outwards and you do not like to be cradled unless you are eating or going to sleep. You want to be able to look at everything going on in the world around you!
Besides laughing, smiling, and coo-ing, you are also a master at rolling over. You rolled over for the first time the week before I had to go back to work. I'm so glad I didn't miss that! Now any time we put you on your tummy for tummy time you roll over to your back. We flip you back over and over you roll. I think you're just trying to get out of tummy time. Lazy. You are also trying really hard to roll from your back to your front and it won't be long now.
Other big news...I spent my first night away from you. I don't think you even cared since Memaw and Pampaw spoiled you so much. I also went back to work this month. I  miss you like crazy, but it's so great to see your face at the end of the work day. You greet me with HUGE smiles and you talk and tell me all about your day. Or at least that's what I think your telling me. You could be cursing me your leaving you.
You've gone lots of places this month including a farm, safety day, out to lunches and dinners, and you even hosted your first engagement party at the house. Although you were quite the party pooper and went to bed early.
You are so loved little one.

5 on Friday

Weekend Edition! Since today is the last day before the weekend, I figured I'd better update you and recap what we did LAST weekend.

1. Friday night Ben and I attended our first and the last movie in the park of the Summer. Jack stayed home with daddy so it was just Ben and I. Ben told me he would take me on a date. He also let me know he didn't want to drive. Good thing I felt like it.

He loved all the attention and I got to remember what it was like with just one kid. I can't believe I ever complained about how hard it was with just one.

2. Just a little grocery shopping on a Saturday morning. Doesn't he look angelic? Look being the key word.

3. We went to a local safety fair where Ben got to go in a helicopter, fire truck, and ambulance. I think ole Patches is making eyes at me.

4. The safety fair was followed up by lunch with my niece and Jack's cheesy, gummy grins.

5. I got nothing. Except this. I was browsing Pinterest maybe looking at Christmas ideas. Don't judge. Anywho, I came across this. Apparently our elf is boring. The adult in me literally laughed out loud at this. The mom in me was appalled.

Have a great weekend and I promise next week's 5 on Friday won't be so lame:)

5 on Friday

Linking up again with these ladies.

1. I LOVE these words of wisdom. Simple, but true.

2. Last week I was nominated for the Liebster Award. Click here to see what this award is all about and who I passed this award along too.

3. Remember how I got the Ombre look on my hair several weeks ago? My stylist did it very subtle per my request to make sure I liked it.

Next time I go, I want it to be a little more dramatic. I love Jessica's hair over at Love and Loyally.

4. I can't wait for Halloween! It looks like I'm not the only one. A costume catalog came in the mail the other day and Ben was so excited looking through it. I think he's decided on a Ninja Turtle. Specifically the blue one. I think that's Leonardo. Correct me if I'm wrong:)

5. I really want to see the movie Gravity when it comes out. I love Sandra and George. I am a little worried however that this has the possibility to be a huge flop. What do you all think?

Happy Friday!!!

Pregnancy Progression

Let's take a little look back... At 40 weeks pregnant I never thought I would say this now, but I kind of miss being pregnant.

It's amazing what the human body can do:)
