Gone Fishing

This weekend was a good mix of productivity and relaxation. Well as much as you can do of both with a 4 year old and 3 month old. Saturday I planned on getting out all my fall decorations but it rained the entire day. J's mom and niece ended up coming over for lunch and to hang out for the afternoon.

Sunday was beautiful so we took full advantage of the gorgeous weather and went fishing. My sister's friend lives on a huge farm with a lake full of fish just waiting to be caught. When I was younger I fished a lot on family vacations with my dad but Ben's only experience fishing is his magnetic fishing pole puzzle.

He ended up getting the hang of it pretty quickly.

Reeling in a fish!

Ben's Uncle Chris got the fish off the hook and showed him how to hold onto it.

My niece was my little fishing buddy.

While we fished, Jack slept, smiled, and ate.

5 on Friday

This week has been super busy so this is coming to you one day late.

This week marked the end of my second week back at work. On my first day back I found these waiting at my desk from my sweet friend/co-worker Alissa.

One benefit of traveling all over the state for work? Imo's Pizza! Our town doesn't have one anymore but thankfully they are scattered all over the St. Louis area. The best part is they have mini personal pizzas offered at lunch time. Most people either seem to love it or hate it and I happen to love it.

I found this on my desk from my boss. It's the little things ya know?

Thursday night we watched my niece and her and Ben got pretty into playing t-ball. One would hit the ball and the other one would go get it and throw it back down the hill.

This one might get me banned from the blogging world but... I don't like pumpkin flavored things. I know, I know. The only exception is pumpkin scented candles. I so wish I liked a pumpkin spice latte or pumpkin pie but I just can't stand the taste.

Hope you have a fabulous weekend!

Jack: 3 Month Update

Jack, you have been with us an entire 3 months. You are most definitely growing. I used to be able to hold you with one arm, no problem at all, but it's becoming more of a challenge as you chunk up.

We are so thankful you are getting bigger especially since at your 2 month Well Child Check you hadn't gained much weight. You were in the 50% for height but only 10% for weight (10.4lbs). Long story short, after a couple of meetings with the lactation consultant and breastfeeding for a solid 3 months, you now take formula 100% of the time and are doing so much better and gaining weight! We gave breastfeeding a go, did the best we could, and I'm glad that I was able to do it as long as I could.

You don't have another doctor's appointment until the end of October but I weighed you on the scale at home and you're up to 13 pounds. Your face, arms, and legs are starting to fill out more and get a little chunk. You're still in size 1 diapers and anywhere from 0-3 months, 3 month, and a few 3-6 months clothes.

This month your smiles grew even bigger an you smile all the time. You LOVE it when people look at and talk to you. You've also became ticklish on your neck, thighs, and under your arms. Whenever I tickle you, you let out the biggest laugh and it is so precious!

You love to suck on your fingers and hands and chew on the end of your lovey. With the sucking comes lots of drooling and I think you will probably cut teeth early just like your brother. One thing you still won't suck on is a pacifier. After trying almost every brand out there it just must not be your thing. When you get upset you would rather look around and be bounced on my lap then take a pacifier.

Since switching to exclusively formula, you take around 5-6 ounces each bottle every 3-4 hours during the day. One thing that has improved drastically since starting formula is your sleeping patterns! You go to bed around 6:45-7:15pm and sleep until 3:00-4:00pm, eat a 6 oz bottle, and then sleep again until 7:00-7:30am. This past week you've slept from 7:00am until 5:00-5:30am, eaten, and then slept again until 7:30-8:00am. This is a huge improvement from breastfeeding when you would wake up every 2-3 hours. Poor little guy, you must have been hungry! You usually take one long morning nap (3 hours) and then a little cat nap in the afternoon (1 hr). You still sleep in your sleep sack in your swing, but the swing is now in your own room! One step closer to the crib:)

You still love bath time, but don't enjoy the getting out or drying off. You don't get too upset or seem bothered when you have a wet or poppy diaper. You LOVE to be held facing outwards and you do not like to be cradled unless you are eating or going to sleep. You want to be able to look at everything going on in the world around you!

Besides laughing, smiling, and cooing, you've almost mastered rolling over. You rolled over for the first time the week before I had to go back to work and I'm so glad I didn't miss that! Now, any time we put you on your tummy for tummy time you roll over to your back then we flip you back over and over you roll again. I think you're just trying to get out of tummy time. You are also trying really hard to roll from your back to your front and it won't be long now.

Other big news...I spent my first night away from you. I don't think you even cared since Memaw and Pampaw spoiled you so much. I also went back to work this month. I miss you like crazy when I'm gone, but it's so great to see your face at the end of the work day. You greet me with HUGE smiles and you jabber and tell me all about your day. At least that's what I think you're telling me.

You've gone lots of places this month including a farm, safety day with brother, out to lunches and dinners, and you even hosted your first engagement party at the house. Although you were quite the party pooper and slept through most of it.

Here's to 3 months! You are so loved little one.

5 on Friday

Weekend Edition! Since today is the last day before the weekend, I figured I'd better update you and recap what we did LAST weekend.

Friday night Ben and I attended our first, and the last of the season, movie in the park. Jack stayed home with J so it was just Ben and I. Ben told me he would take me on a date and also let me know he didn't want to drive. Good thing I felt like it. He loved all the one on one attention and I got to remember what it was like with just one kid. I can't believe I ever complained about how hard it was with just one.

Just a little grocery shopping on a Saturday morning. Doesn't he look angelic? Look being the key word.

After getting groceries we went to a local safety fair where Ben got to go inside a helicopter, fire truck, and ambulance.

The fair was followed up by lunch with my niece, MIL, and Jack's cheesy, gummy grins.

I was browsing Pinterest maybe looking at Christmas ideas. Don't judge. I came across this Elf on the Shelf idea and literally laughed out loud. The adult in me loved this and the mom in me was appalled.

Have a great weekend!

5 on Friday

Linking up with these ladies again.

I love these words of wisdom. Simple, but true.

Last week I was nominated for the Liebster Award. Click here to see what this award is all about and who I tagged next.

Remember how I got Ombre done several weeks ago? My stylist did it very subtle per my request to make sure I liked it. Next time I think I'm ready for something a little more dramatic. I love Jessica's hair over at Love and Loyally.

I can't wait for Halloween this year and it looks like I'm not the only one. A costume catalog arrived in the mail the other day and Ben was so excited flipping through it. I think he's decided on the blue Ninja Turtle which if I'm not mistaken is Leonardo.

This movie. Ever since seeing the first preview I've wanted to see it so badly. I love Sandra and I love George but I'm a little worried that this has the potential to be a huge flop. What do you all think?

Happy Friday!!!

Pregnancy Progression in Pictures

How's that alliteration for you :)

Let's take a little look back at what 40 weeks of pregnancy does to the body.

I am one of the those people who actually really enjoyed being pregnant and I kind of miss it. Kind of :)
