5 on Friday

This Friday is going to be a little bit of a different post. Instead of the usual 5 on Friday, I'm posting 5 pictures that will help you get to know me more.

One.
I love love love to travel. New York is one of my favorite cities and I've been there a handful of times, the last trip being when J and I went in 2010. Other favorite places I've traveled include San Francisco and Italy.

Two.
This kid has a BIG personality. Just like his momma :)

Three.
It's strange but also amazing to experience all of life's stages with your best friend. It doesn't seem like we should be old enough to be married with children. I think our boy-obsessed, teenage selves would be pretty happy with how our lives are now.

Four.
These three are my world.

Five.
I'm lucky to have such a wonderful supportive family. And I really lucked out marrying into J's family.

And one more for good measure...

Six.
Life is too short not to laugh every day.

Carrots. Yum.

I tried to think of a funny, witty, or at least not lame title of this post for the last 5 minutes. Obviously I failed. But...look who's eating carrots and loving them!

Are you wondering why Jack's eyes and eyebrows are so red? He was crying because I wasn't shoveling the carrots in his mouth fast enough.

Do you think he's thinking, "Quit taking pictures and feed me my food before I freak out."

We were hoping to get at least one picture with him looking disgusted or unsure of what he was eating but alas he loved every bite.

For comparisons sake, here's Ben eating carrots for the first time.

Now that's a good disgusted face :)

Weekend Recap

I've decided that every week I am writing "clean house" on my to-do list. Not because I need to remember to do it, the food crumbs do a good enough job of that, but because I'm crazy and I need the satisfaction that comes from scratching an item off the list.

Besides cleaning the house and doing laundry, this weekend was full of playing Legos in bed.

Baby cuddles during nap time.

A rare mommy and Jack picture.

And a birthday celebration for my 3 year old niece.

You know what this weekend wasn't full off? Me cooking. And it was glorious! Oh wait, I did make breakfast on Sunday morning, and I want credit for it.

And although this was last weekend, I forgot to mention that J and I watched The Heat and it was super funny. I laughed out loud a lot. Like full blown, tears running down my face kinda laughter.

What was your weekend full of?

5 on Friday

One.
All you southerners get ready to forgive me. I went to a luncheon for work yesterday and they served girts. I've seen all the delicious looking grit pictures you all post so I had high hopes that these would be delicious. My friend Staci summed it up best when she said it tasted like baby cereal. I'm hoping these "cheese" grits were in fact just missing the cheese because they were terrible.

Two.
This is Jack's, "Who said you could hold me?" look.

Three.
Tuesday night we took dinner to our friends who just had twins. They are so tiny and precious. It's amazing how much of a difference 4 months makes.

With 3 babies, all of whom can't sit by themselves, this is the best picture we were gonna get. At least none of them fell off the couch.

Four.
Two totally opposite yet very truthful words of wisdom.

Five.
It's insane how much I love this outfit...and how absolutely ridiculous I would look wearing it. But dang, that girl is rockin every piece of it.

Jack: 5 Month Update

Just as I predicted 5 months snuck up on us way too soon. Where did the last month of your little life go?

You continue to be such a sweetheart. I can't even remember the last time you woke up the in the morning and weren't smiling and just so happy to see me.

I don't have your official 5 month weight and your next well child checkup isn't until 6 months. If I had to guess, I would say you're close to 15 pounds. You are really long which requires me to size up on footed sleepers so your little toes aren't cramped. You've had a little bit of a stuffy nose this month, but nothing too terrible, and it didn't even seem to phase you.

You're officially in size 2 diapers and wear anything from 3-6, 6, and some 6-9 month clothing, depending on the brand. Each time I have to put away another outfit that is too small a little piece of me wants to burst out crying.

You are taking 6oz bottles and eat every 3-4 hours. Every once in awhile you will go 4-5 hours in between feedings. We started rice cereal this month and you love it! You start to grunt if I don't shovel it in your mouth fast enough and you like it pretty thick. We are starting veggies tonight and I have no doubt that you will love them as well. You've become very aware of when others are eating and I've seen you give the stink eye a few times when someone doesn't offer you a bite.

As great of a baby as you are, one thing that's not so great is your sleeping habits. Don't get me wrong, it could be a whole lot worse. You're still waking up twice in the night at 11:45pm (on the dot) and then usually between 3:00-4:00am. When you wake at 11:45, sometimes you soothe yourself back to sleep, but if you cry for more than 15 minutes I go into your room. I try not to feed you and you are usually content being rocked and then I place you back in your crib when you're almost asleep, but not all the way. You still go to bed between 6:45-7:15pm and wake up anywhere between 7:00-8:00am.

You and I both love your bedtime routine of eating rice cereal followed by a bath and cozy pajamas. The best part is the rocking and cuddling during your night time bottle. I use the size 1 nipple at night so you don't gulp it down which means I get lots of snuggles in. While I'm feeding you, your dad is helping brother with his bath.

Naps are still hit and miss. You took several 2+ hour naps this month at Memaw's and daycare, but have yet to do that on the weekends.

This month you love your activity mat, your new O ball, the soft chewable books, and Sophie the Giraffe.

You are able to stand and bear weight on your legs for several minutes at a time now and you like hanging out and bouncing in your Exersaucer. There is a chicken toy on it that you like to spin and listen to the noises it makes.

You are sitting pretty well in your Bumbo when eating rice cereal and we are working on supporting yourself while sitting on the floor.

You make SO many noises including the "ma-ma-mam" sound but it's not yet been directed towards me. And although I know they are just sounds and not words, you say what sounds like, "hey" and "hi." You said, "hiiiiii," in the car the other day and Ben said, "Well hey brother," back to you :)

You also started grunting this month. I could have sworn you were pooping the other day, but nope, just trying to reach a toy that was out of arms length. I was dying laughing.

Your brother continues to love you oh so much. He can make you laugh and laugh and it's just so sweet. There has yet to be a moment where he has gotten mad at you for crying or being loud although the other night he did ask me to shut his door when you crying while he was trying to sleep.

Everything is going in your mouth these days. Your hands, toys, my hair, whatever you can grab ahold of. Your brother's first tooth came in about at this age and I wonder if yours is going to pop through at any moment.

Happy 5 months sweet boy. I love you to the moon and back!

5 on Friday

Linking up again with these lovely ladies for another 5 on Friday.

One.
Last weekend we went to dinner at one of our favorite local pizza places. It's so easy to get stuck in a routine of coming home, making dinner, doing bath time, and then going to bed. It's nice to take a break from the everyday routine and enjoy a week night out.

Two.
I've been dying to make these two Christmas crafts for the past 3 Christmas' now :)

Three.
I bought Jack this ball after reading about it on several other blogs and he LOVES it. All the little holes make it so easy for him to hold and put it in his mouth.

Four.
Speaking of Jack, we broke out the Exersaucer and he likes looking at himself in the little mirror on it. All his different faces crack me up.

Five.
I am majorly behind on Christmas shopping. I've gotten a few things here and there and for the most part know I know what I'm everyone. I still undecided about what I want but I know I want a sweater like this.

Happy Weekend Friends!

Random Thoughts on a Monday

This weekend was pretty low key. We hung around the house and I finally had to time to do a good deep cleaning. I also did what feels like 1,000 loads of laundry. In reality it was probably 10. And I know everyone looses the match to socks but have y'all tried finding the match to baby socks? Those things are sooo tiny. I swear I have 5 pairs missing their mate. Maybe I need to make this.

Jennifer at Life in the Green House posted this picture of the new shelves she put up in her house. I may have to do this next weekend. And by I, I mean J.

I've been trying to remember this lately. I think it's a good reminder for everyone, especially around Christmas time when people become so wrapped up in stuff.

Happy Monday friends!
