5 on Friday

This Friday is going to be a little different. Instead of the usual 5 on Friday, random things from this past week, I'm posting 5 pictures that best explain me and my life.

//one//
I love, love, love to travel. This is from when J and I went to New York back in 2010. Our other favorite places we've traveled include San Francisco and Italy.

//two//
I have awesome kids. Ben's 4 now, but still equally as awesome.

//three//
It's weird/amazing to experience all of life's stages with your best friend. It doesn't seem like we should be old enough to be married with children. I think our boy-obsessed, teenage selves would be pretty happy with our lives now.

//four//
Having sweet baby Jack was one of the best decisions of our life. He completes our little family.

//five//
My family is pretty great. J's family is too:)

And one more for good measure...

//six//
Life is too short not to laugh every.single.day.

Happy Thanksgiving

I tend to over use the word blessed. My husband has been known to give me crap about it. But I can't think of a better word to describe our life.

We will be spending our Thanksgiving surrounded by family. No black Friday shopping, no work, just thankfulness.

I'll leave you with my most favorite Thanksgiving picture ever. Ben's first Thanksgiving and his first bite of Lemon Migraine Pie. I don't know why but this is one of my most favorite Thanksgiving memories.

Whether you are celebrating with family, friends, fur babies, or alone, Happy Thanksgiving!

How far I've come...I think.

Have y'all ever gone back and re-read old posts. I mean really old posts. Don't do it. While looking back through some of my old posts the following thoughts popped in my head at least once, some over and over again
o.m.g.
please tell me I didn't
long winded much?
there's that same title again
why were my pictures so small
did I really use the word blessed again
look how great I looked
I look like an ugly troll
man my kids are cute
lay off the about me letter games

My favorite blog titles include
I'm going to P-O-P (no, I wasn't pregnant in this one-not even close)
not to be confused with

It doesn't get much better than these. Or it may, but I was too embarrassed with myself to keep looking.

Please, please tell me I'm not alone. Any early blogging posts/titles you're embarrassed to admit you hit publish on?

Carrots. Yum.

I seriously tried to think of a funny, witty, or at the least not lame title to this post for 5 minutes. Obviously I failed.

BUT...

Look whose eating carrots. And LOVING them! Are you wondering why my baby's eyes and eyebrows are so red? It's because he was crying because I wasn't shoveling those damn carrots in fast enough.
*Quit taking pictures and feed me lady before I freak out.

We were hoping that we would get at least one picture with some kind of disgusted/not sure what the heck this is face, but alas we got none. Just picture after picture of him chowing down.

And for comparisons sake, here's Ben eating carrots for the first time
Now thems some good faces:)

Weekend Recap

I've decided that every week I am writing "clean house" on my To Do list. Not because I need to remember to do it-the food crumbs do a good enough job of that-but because I'm sick and need the satisfaction that comes from marking through another item.

Besides cleaning the house and doing laundry, this weekend was full of
lego playing in bed

baby cuddles during nap time

a rare mommy and Jack picture

birthday presents for a special 3 year old.

You know what this weekend wasn't full off?
Me cooking. Except for breakfast Sunday morning.

And although this was last weekend, we watched The Heat and y'all have got to see it!
I laughed a lot. Like full blown, out loud, tears running down my face laughter.

What was your weekend full of?

5 on Friday

A whopping total of 2 posts last week and 2 posts this week. Awesome. I'll spare the, this week's crazy shiz, and get right down to it. Linking up with these ladies yet again.

//one//
All you southerners, get ready to forgive me. I went to a luncheon yesterday for work and there they were... grits. I've seen all you southern girls post your delicious looking grit pictures so I had high hopes that these would be, well, delicious. My friend Staci summed it up best when she said it tasted like baby cereal. I'm hoping it was the fact that these "cheese" grits were in fact lacking the cheese.

//two//
I love this, "Who said you could hold me?" look.

//three//
Tuesday night I made dinner for friends of ours who just had twins. They are so tiny and precious. It's amazing how much of a difference 4 months makes.
With 3 babies, all of whom can't sit by themselves, this is the best pic you're gonna get. At least none of them fell of the couch.

//four//
Two totally opposite, yet very truthful words of wisdom.

//five//
It's insane how much I love this outfit...and how absolutely ridiculous I would look wearing it. But dang, that girl is rockin every piece of that outfit.

Happy Friday Friends! Hope you're weekend is pure perfection!

Jack {5 months}

Just as I predicted, 5 months snuck up on us way too soon. Where did the last month of your little life go?
You continue to be such a sweetheart. I can't even remember the last time you woke up the in the morning and weren't smiling and just so happy to see me.
I haven't officially weighed you lately and your next well child checkup isn't until 6 months. If I had to guess, I would say you're close to 15 pounds. You are really long which requires me to size up on the sleepers so your little feet aren't cramped. You've had a little bit of a stuffy nose this month, but nothing too terrible and it didn't even seem to phase you.
You are officially in size 2 diapers and wear anything from 3-6m, 6m, and some 6-9m clothing, depending on the brand. Each time I have to put away another outfit that is too small a little piece of me wants to burst out crying.
You are taking 6oz bottles and eat anywhere from 3-4 hours, and every once in a while will go 4-5 hours. We started rice cereal this month and you love it! You start to grunt if I don't shovel it in your mouth fast enough and you like it pretty darn thick. We will also be starting veggies tonight and I have no doubt that you will love that as well. You are also becoming very aware of when others are eating and I've seen you give the stink eye a few times when someone doesn't offer you a bite.
As great as you are, one thing that's not so great is your sleep. Don't get me wrong, it could be a whole lot worse. Trust me, I know. You still get up twice in the night at 11:45 (on.the.dot.) and then usually between 3:00am and 4:00am. When you wake at 11:45, sometimes you soothe yourself back to sleep, but if you cry for more than 15 minutes I go into your room. I try not to feed you and you are usually content being rocked and then I place you back in your crib when you are almost asleep, but not all the way. You still go to bed early between 6:45-7:15pm-which is why I don't mind that 3:00am feeding since it's been 8 hours because you go to bed so early. You still wake up anywhere between 7:00am and 8:00am.
You and I both love your bedtime routine of cereal and then a bath followed by cozy pajamas. But the best part is the cuddling during your night time bottle. I use the size 1 nipple at night which takes you longer to eat the bottle so I can get lots of love in. I feed you while your dad is helping brother with his bath so it's just the two of us.
Naps are still hit and miss. You took several 2-2+ hour naps this month at Memaw's and pre-school, but have yet to do that on weekends.
(could you not just eat those cheeks)
This month you love your activity mat, the new O ball we got you, some soft chewable books, and you've also taken an interest in Sophie the Giraffe.
You are able to stand and bear weight on your legs for several minutes at a time now and you like hanging out in your exersaucer. You particularly like spinning the chicken toy and listening to the noises it makes.
You sit pretty well in your Bumbo seat when eating your rice cereal and we are working on you supporting yourself while sitting on the floor.
You make SO many noises including the "mamamam" sound but it's not yet been directed towards me. And although I know they are sounds and not words, you say what sounds like, "hey" and "hi." You said, "hiiiiii," in the car the other day and Ben said, "well hey, brother," back to you.
You've also started grunting this month. I could have sworn you were pooping the other day, but nope-you were just trying to reach a toy that was out of arms length. I was dying laughing.
Your brother continues to love you oh so much. He can make you laugh and laugh and it is just so sweet. There has still never been a moment where he has gotten mad at you for crying or being loud, although the other night he did ask me to shut his door when you crying while he was trying to sleep:)
Everything is going in your mouth these days-your hands, toys, my hair-whatever you can grab ahold of. Your brother got his first tooth at this time and I wonder if yours is going to pop through at any moment.
Happy 5 months sweet boy. I love you to the moon and back!

5 on Friday

Linking up again with these lovely ladies for another 5 on Friday.

//one//
Last weekend we went to dinner at one of our favorite local pizza places. It's so easy to get stuck in a routine of coming home, making dinner, bath time, and bed. It's nice to break from the everyday routine and enjoy a night out.

//two//
I've been dying to do these two Christmas crafts for the past...oh 3 Christmas' now. This will be the year.

//three//
I bought Jack this ball after reading about it on several other blogs. Jack LOVES it and all the little holes make it so easy for him to hold.

//four//
Speaking of Jack, we busted out the Exersaucer for him and he loves looking at himself in the little mirror on it. His many faces crack me up.

//five//
I am majorly behind on Christmas shopping this year. I have gotten a few things for people and for the most part know what I am getting the others, but I have no idea what to tell other people I want... except for a sweater like this. Bonus-it's super affordable!

Happy Weekend Friends!
