The New Year

We rang in the New Year at home with a champagne toast and prompt trip to bed after. The boys were both passed out from too much pre-partying at 6:30 so J and I were left to stare at each other for 5 hours. When the fun of that wore off I feel asleep at 8:00 on the couch to be woken up by J a few minutes later. Then it was my turn to wake J up at 9:00. We're awesome.

I had a few more naps throughout the night and J woke me up with 2 minutes to go before the New Year. We woke Ben up so he could watch the ball drop with us. I wouldn't have wanted to celebrate any other way.

Like most years, this past year was filled with wonderful moments and memories and some challenges here and there. By far the best part of this year was welcoming our new little family member. Baby Jack was made our lives SO wonderful. J and I love both love him so much, but I think it's Ben who may just love him the most. He adores his little brother.

Although 2014 won't bring us any least it better not...I hope it's filled with lots of wonderful memories and moments.

I'll do a separate post about my 2014 resolutions, but before I do, let's reflect on how I did with 2013.

Resolution: A firm decision to do or not to do something

My 2013 resolutions:
Be more patient. Can this one ever be complete?
Finish decorating our house. Hang family pictures. About that...
Spend more time with my girlfriends. I did pretty well although I definitely need more time with some of my oldest friends.
Have a date night with J at least once a month. The baby kind of put a damper on this, but I think quality time talking on the couch counts.
Get new baby's room ready. Not all the way finished, but since he's been here 6 months-obviously it's livable.
Save more, spend less. Overall, I think I did pretty well. I have big plans for this in 2014 though.
Take a trip with J before the baby comes. What's a more positive word than fail?
Take one last trip as a family of 3. DONE. We spent the weekend in KC visiting Legoland.
Reach my billable hours goal at work. Nope.
Only work late one night a week. Having a new baby really helped with this one.
Get caught up on scrapbooking. All the pictures I had printed are caught up! Now to print the other 1000 I'm behind on.
Blog more often. I'll consider this a success!
Read the bible more often. I'm disappointed in myself about this one.
Update our household binder. Get together the master organization list. DONE.
Bring my lunch to work more often than not. DONE. It helped to have work gals to do this with me.
Do more. Try new things. I'd say we did a lot in 2013 although not too many of them were brand new.
And as cliche as it may sound, live this year to the fullest.

Cheers to 2014!
