Friday, Friday

This week has been a rough one. Jack had a fever most of the week with what we thought was just teething and a little cold. Turns out he had an ear infection. Now that he's on antibiotics he's doing much better and thankfully his fever is gone! On top of a sick baby, work has been crazy hosting our annual conference, and I also helped with teacher appreciation lunch at Ben's school.

I'm glad the week's just about over and we can focus on having fun tonight and this weekend!  Let's get to my 5 for the week.

//one//
I wore this sweater and necklace for the conference and there's just something I love about this combination. Rose gold + royal blue = perfection.

//two//
I had a client meeting on Wednesday morning two hours away which meant I had to leave really early. Although I was glad when the sun finally came up, I wasn't so happy about all the fog that was left. Thankfully I only had to drive through it for about 15 min.
(no, I wasn't driving and taking this pic. I took it getting ready to leave the gas station parking lot. safety first:)

Remember how I told you I helped with teacher appreciation lunch? I also put together gifts for the teacher's birthdays who were in October. Once again, Target to the rescue!

I hope you all have a wonderful Halloween, stay warm, and eat lots candy! It's supposed to be 28 degrees tonight so we'll definitely be bundling up as we trick or treat.

How a caterpillar {almost} ruined 1st Grade

Yesterday I posted this picture here. Now I'm telling you what went down.

Picture me in first grade, missing bottom tooth and all with my awesome spandex shorts, and white Keds. It was recess and we were all outside playing when I spotted one of these about to get squished by some wild boy running around.

Being the kind person I am, I picked this little guy up, held him for a few minutes, no doubt admiring his furriness, and sat him in the grass...or so I thought.

I guess the little bug didn't want to leave me so instead of going in the grass, he somehow ended up stuck on the back side of my shorts...do you see where this is going? Sweet little first grade me went to sit down and ended up with squished up bug all over my ass. And that furriness, it turned into a huge itchy mess.

I had to walk to the office with bug butt and call my mom who had to bring me a change of clothes. Did I mention I was also hysterically crying the whole time? Awesome.

Weekend Recap

Well...this weekend didn't end up going quite as we planned, but we made the best of it and managed to enjoy the almost 90 degree weather. Oh yes, only in the midwest can it be 50 degrees one day and 90 the next.

Friday night my in-laws asked to keep the boys. What wild and crazy thing did J and I do? We got in our pjs, ate Chipotle on the couch, and rented The Purge Anarchy. Neither of us really like scary movies, but I guess we were in the Halloween spirit. The whole time I kept thinking and saying out loud what a horrible idea it is to have a national "purging" day where all crime is fair game. Does anyone else talk out loud during scary movies? It helps me feel better:)

Saturday I was up and at em cleaning and organizing our garage. By the end I was sweating, but I'm glad it's done. At least for a little while.

While I was cleaning, I saw this little creature. Remind me to tell you the story of how this thing almost ruined first grade for me.

The boys came home just as I finished the garage so we all played outside (and they dragged out every outdoor toy I had just organized and put away) while daddy mowed.

Have you all tried this cracked black pepper turkey breast. SO good and a nice change from regular ole turkey.

We had originally planned to go to the zoo on Sunday, but immediately when I went to pick up Jack Sunday morning I knew he had a fever. He had slept great through the night and was playing and (eating) as usual so I think it may be his teeth. Between the fever and the sudden heat wave, we decided to save the zoo for next weekend. If I wanted to go to the zoo in the summer I would have. Come on fall!

Not wanting to be too big of a warm weather downer, we headed to our favorite Mexican place along with half our town. Although it took forever to get our food, Jack enjoyed feeding the fish and Ben got his drink on (don't worry it's a virgin twss).

After lunch we came home and carved pumpkins. I attempted to paint mine, but ran out of paint so I'll have to post a picture later this week. Don't worry though, it's going to be awesome.

Jack was both terrified and bored of the whole process.

Thankfully Ben (with my help) and daddy love carving pumpkins and I think they turned out pretty great.
Ben painted that little pumpkin for his brother. And even though it's quite terrifying to look at, it's sweet he gave it to Jack, evil red eyes and all.

Did any of you have record temperatures this weekend?

Friday, Friday

Happy Friday everyone! I hope you all have something wonderful planned for this weekend and I can't wait to read all about it on Monday. But before the weekend can officially begin, let's recap 5 things from last week...

//one//
I re-organized my closet and did a major purge. Did you know we have all been organizing our closets the wrong way?! I'll do a full post on this next week and hopefully after reading it you'll have the same ah-ha moment I did.

//two//
My husband bought this. Two cases of this to be exact. Apparently they were re-released and sold on Amazon. Trying to relive childhood much?

//three//
On Monday I told you we went to dinner for Mexican Sunday night after the Pumpkin Patch. Well apparently when I went to the bathroom, Ben helped himself to my phone and took 50 pictures of everything from the table, the cheese dip bowl, and his brother and cousin. He also happened to take a pretty awesome selfie. It's cute until you have to delete all of them...one by one.

//four//
Considering I've pinned it twice now, I think it's time for me to make this delicious Almond Poppy Bread from Kaitlin

The Greatest Pumpkin Patch

I say the greatest because we actually drove 25 minutes to a different pumpkin patch only to find out it backs right up to a subdivision, not to mention there were only about 10 cars there.

I wasn't about to let this be our pumpkin patch adventure so as fast as we pulled into the parking spot we pulled out and headed to our reliable Peach Tree Farms.

This place has the typical patch activities (hayride, pumpkins, farm animals, etc), but is family owned and operated. There are lots of things to do and lots of land which is perfect for 2 little boys who want to roam free in the country.

Random Tuesday Thoughts

It's only Tuesday and I've already got a random list of things I need to talk write about.

We tend to order pizza from local places, but sometimes turn to ole Pizza Hut because there's one close to our home and it has a drive thru. Any place where I don't have to get the kids out of the car is awesome. I'm still waiting on Chipotle to get on this band wagon. Anywhoo...the last couple of times we have ordered from Pizza Hut our pizza has looked like this.
Whoever at the Hut thought we didn't want cheese on every.single.piece of our pizza was sadly mistaken. #welovecheese Obviously this hasn't stopped us from ordering from them again. Drive thru remember?

I have a problem with hoarding cups. I bring them to work, but have a very hard time bringing them home. This was my desk at work the other day before I couldn't take it any longer and brought them all home. At least I'm being environmentally friendly, right?

Some bloggers lately have really been getting on my nerves. Yes, I know I can stop reading anytime, but the problem is I really like their blogs, but I don't know if I can put up with all the sponsored posts and plugs to buy add space. I'm fine with it once in a while, but if I'm reading more about ads than your actual life I get turned off quickly.

I painted my nails this perfect fall green from Essie. At least it was perfect until I looked at what it was called. Now all I can think of is puke/poop. Common. Who named this one?

What else is there to say about a giant gnome in the back of a pickup?

I was all excited to open this bad boy for a delicious 100 calorie snack only to find the apples completely mushy. I can't stand apples or bananas once they become the slightest bit soft. Gag. #that'swhatshesaid

I have an adorable DIY Wedding Card Box to post about, but I've been putting it off because while I decorated it, my husband actually built the box and I'm too lazy to ask him for the dimensions and a quick tutorial on how to do it.

And I was almost done with this post when Monica Lewinsky popped up on the t.v. Apparently she's on a speaking tour talking about how she was a victim, called horrible names, yada yada. Not that it's right and yes you were "young", but plenty of young, stupid college girls don't sleep with married men. What did you think would happen when you "slept" with the President? Move on...he sure has. And he's like seventy and grey now so stop.

What's on your mind this Tuesday?
