Friday Five

Happy Friday! We're headed off on a little family vacation but not before I share with you my 5 things for this week.

//ONE//
If you saw my Instastories you know I bought these sandals for our upcoming trip and so far they've been pretty comfortable. They're the Merona Madeline Slide Sandals from Target and on clearance for $12.

//TWO//
Anyone else addicted to Starbucks' new infusion teas? The Peach Citrus White Tea Infusion Lemonade is the perfect subtle hint of peach and tea while not being too sweet. It's officially my drink for this Summer and I can't get enough. Oh and do yourself a favor and avoid the strawberry and green tea one. I'm not sure what it was about it, but it was undrinkable.

//THREE//
Speaking of Summer, I've been trying to add more pink in my wardrobe and I don't know why I waited so long. Don't mind the cardigan. It may be 95 degrees outside, but my office is freezing.

//FOUR//
Unless you've been living under a rock you know that Nordstrom is having their big sale. The other day on Instagram someone posted about these earrings. I'm sorry, but who would spend that much on a pair of earrings. You know how many high waisted Zella leggings you could buy for that. There's a reason they're still available when everything else has sold out. They're freakin expensive. If you're like me and spending $300 on tassel earrings isn't your thing, make sure to check out my list of The 10 Best Summer Accessories Under $10.

//FIVE//
Last week was my husband's birthday and I made him this "homemade" boxed cake. Nothing like some sprinkles to jazz up a boring cake. And cover up my horrible frosting job.

Have a wonderful weekend!

The 10 Best Summer Accessories Under $10

So many of you loved my picks for The 10 Best Summer Accessories Under $20 that I challenged myself to find you the best of the best for under $10. Even better, lots of these beauties are under $5!! And let me tell you, these accessories look just as good, if not better, than the almost identical ones that cost ten times as much.

Welcome to Cortney & Co.

I'm back! Complete with a new name and all. First of all, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, to all of you who reached out about the new name and blog and for sticking around as I get my life together in general :)

The decision to rebrand doesn't come lightly and it certainly isn't easy switching domains and social media handles, not to mention html and re-directing issues. But it's so worth it and I'm in love with the easier to read layout and a brand that will hopefully fit me better.

So let's get to the question you all are wanting to know. Why did I get rid of Our Family Family?

I started Our Fishy Family shortly after I had Ben (8 years ago) as a way to scrapbook our lives and remember those little details of life. As Ben got older and blogging become more popular and mainstream, the types of blogs I began reading expanded and I knew I wanted to expand what I was blogging about as well. As much as I love my kids and being a mom, there's also a whole lot more to me and my life that isn't necessarily portrayed. My kids are also getting older and more independent and Ben in particular is aware of social media and things like Facebook and Instagram. He's at the age where he tells me when he doesn't want certain things posted and I have to respect his privacy.

This doesn't mean Cortney & Co won't still have weekend recaps or snapshots into my life as mom because I like reading those kinds of posts and I know you all do to. What you can expect to find on Cortney & Co. is more of me. Style, favorite recipes, DIY's, struggles, encouragement, and my journey to living my best life.

I'm so grateful for all of you in this space and I hope you'll join me on this new venture!

4th of July {2017}

I'm not sure if it's the festiveness, fireworks, or time spent with family, but the 4th of July is one of my favorite holidays. The days leading up to the 4th were spent swimming, water ballooning, and having a bbq with some low-key fireworks at my parent's house.

The husband and I began dating on the 4th 10 years ago which sometimes seems forever ago and "I can't believe it's been 10 years," all at the same time.

On the actual 4th we had a low key day at home and then went to J's aunt's house. Can you tell I love me some festive outfits :)

Cousins. Minus the three older ones who are too cool for pictures.

Hope you all had a wonderful 4th. I'm so thankful that we live in a country where we are celebrate our freedom.
