Holiday Bucket List {2017}

Tomorrow's the first day of December and Christmas is a mere 25 days away. This time of year can be stressful and chaotic, but I'm determined to not let the craziness of the season get to me. I'm choosing to focus on joy and the magic of the season with some glasses of wine as needed :) Here's a few things on our bucket list for the next month.

//Decorate a gingerbread house//
We actually do a village that way everyone gets their own house and there's less fighting

//Read the nativity story//

//Attend the Holiday Parade of Homes//
I've never been and I'm nosy and love to see other people's houses

//Drive around and look at Christmas lights//
In Christmas pajamas

//Adopt a family in need//

//Donate money to Salvation Army Bell Ringers//
I'm thinking of giving each boy their own little sack of coins to bring with them when we go to stores

//Visit Santa//

//Make reindeer food//

//Clean and organize the playroom//
We're keeping only what we love and the rest is going

//Watch Home Alone//

//Visit the live nativity//
And remember the real reason we celebrate this season

//Decorate cookies for Santa//

//Mail Christmas Cards//

//Take pictures and label ornaments//
I really want a picture of each ornament with a description of where we got it/why it's important. I don't want to forget the special details.

//Go to a tree lighting//

//Bake cookies for neighbors or friends//

//Create family resolutions//
I want us to have family goals that we'd like to accomplish in 2018. I may even have the kids write some of their own.

Weekend Recap

Happy Thanksgiving week! Unlike some weekends, this one didn't seem to fly by which is always nice. It probably helps that I also took Friday off which made the weekend seem extra long.

A fresh cut and color was much needed going into the holiday season.

You may have seen this on my Instastories but I did a little thrifting this weekend and found this military jacket from Old Navy for $8!

And the good luck continued when the shoes I've been eyeing went on sale. The Juvenate seems to be pretty popular and either sold out or full price at other stores.

I wrapped up a little Christmas DIY that had been on my Pinterest board for years. Here's a sneak peak before I added the branches and bows.

On Sunday we met up with my sister and her family downtown for the holiday parade. A certain 8 year old had to stay home with dad due to a bad attitude so it was just Jack and I.

And Santa.

5 on Friday

Between time change and a little sickness we just can't seem to kick I'm glad it's Friday. I'm leaving Sunday afternoon for a quick overnight for work so I'm making the most of the short weekend but first I've got my 5 things from this week.

Anyone else a lunatic like me and stop and take random pictures of fall trees? They seem so vibrant this year I just can't help myself. Please tell me I'm not alone.

Parent teacher conferences were this week which made a good excuse for my first holiday cup of the season. This week is brutal on teachers so bringing them a little caffeinated beverage is much appreciated. And a good alternative to what they really want, wine.

I have been wanting a sleigh for my front porch at Christmas but didn't want to pay an arm and a leg for one. I found this one and it was only $29. I've already started fixing it up and I can't wait to show you guys the final product.

This steak burrito bowl recipe from Six Sister's Stuff has been on my Pinterest board forever. I finally made it last weekend and it was amazing. The BEST fajita type steak I've ever made and super simple. Now I'm wondering what else from their site I need to make.

Kate at The Small Things Blog posted about these Sam Edelman Boots on her Instastories yesterday and I fell in love. I don't really need a new pair of brown boots but I also don't love the ones I currently have. Anyone else have this boot? Do you love it? Is it comfortable?

Have a wonderful weekend!

Halloween 2017

Can I tell you guys something? I'm not a huge fan of dressing up for Halloween. I know that makes me lame but it always seems like a lot of work and money for something I'll only wear once. That being said, nothing like a little work themed Halloween contest to put you in the mood. We had so much fun and our "Unbirthday birthday party" was a hit.  I seriously have the best coworkers. Can we talk about how perfect my friend Kim is as the Mad Hatter is?

After leaving Alice behind, it was all things superheroes. We went over to my parent's house for dinner and then trick or treating with my sister and her family.

How cute is my niece's Wonder Woman costume? My other niece and her friend went one last time with us before they head off to college next year. Cue all the tears.

And that's a wrap. Anyone else's kids already planning their costumes for 2018?
