4 Crime Podcasts You Can't Stop Listening To

As much as I love a good book it's also nice to just turn on a Podcast and listen to someone talk. If you looked at my library you'd find a wide range of Podcasts from women entrepreneurs to reality tv gossip to the latest financial information. But some of my favorite podcasts are those that involve mystery, unanswered questions, and the search for the truth. If you like the same thing, then download these 4 podcasts immediately!

//Atlanta Monster//
Atlanta Monster documents the story of 25 African American children who were kidnapped and then murdered in Atlanta during the 1970's. Although a man was arrested and tried for the murders, nearly 40 years later he still claims he's innocent.

//Accused: The Unsolved Murder of Elizabeth Andes//
This is the first season in the Cincinnati Enquirer's podcast. The podcast is presented by one of the Enquirer's journalists who is now investigating the death of then 23 year old Elizabeth Andes. Elizabeth's boyfriend was tried and acquitted and many people were left undecided about who actually committed the crime.

//Accused: The Unsolved Murder of Retha Welch //
This is the second season from the Cincinnati Enquirer. In this season, you learn about Retha Welch who had a deep love for Jesus and counseling prison inmates. She was found killed in her apartment and police arrested and accused an ex-con she had been counseling. In January 2017, after 28 years in prison, her alleged killer was released from prison after a Grand Jury failed to have enough evidence for a re-trial.

//Dirty John//
Unlike the other podcasts, there's no denying who the bad guy is. John's got everyone around him fooled, until people slowly start discovering the truth. Then things get weird. Really, really weird.

5 on Friday

Even though President's Day was on Monday, this four day work week seemed every bit of five days.  I started getting a tingle in my throat last night so I'm crossing every finger and toe that it doesn't turn into something more. Onto my 5...

I shared this song on my Instastories last week and so many of you liked it. Considering the song is called IDGAF, be prepared for the f-word to be used a lot :)
During my last visit to Sam's Club, I picked up a bag of our favorite Smartfood Popcorn. I know the purpose of Sam's is to buy things in large quantities but I guess I didn't realize just how big the bag was until I went to eat some.

I have a manicure appointment this weekend and per the usual, I'm leaning towards Lincoln Park After Dark. Although it's a great go-to color for Winter, what other colors am I missing? Any new ones I should try?

This week I finished reading The Hate You Give You and it's a must read if you haven't already. It's intense, endearing, and relates all to well to the current climate in this country.
Spring's not too far away and there's several little projects I'm itching to complete around the house. What do you think the chances are I can convince my husband to help me knock out these two this weekend?

Weekend Recap & Valentine's Day

Happy Tuesday which feels like a Monday since we had yesterday off. Before I recap our long weekend, I'm going to back up to Valentine's day. As usual, I'm linking up with Biana.

We don't go super crazy with the boys' Valentine presents, just a little candy and a small toy. The two dozen roses J got me from our local grocery store are still going strong and look waaayy better than the more expensive ones he's bought in years past.

I found this sweater during a recent thrifting haul and it was perfect for the day. I'm obsessed with the gold zippers.

Both boys had parties at school. Ben's was first and the kids had a photo booth with Polaroid pictures. It was hysterical seeing a bunch of 3rd graders so confused and wondering why their picture wasn't showing up.

Ben went with me to Jack's party where he helped out during an intense game of Bingo.

After the sugar coma from all the leftover candy, I decided to kick the weekend off with a green smoothie. This one had kiwi, kale, and apple.

Saturday morning Jack went to a friend's birthday party at a trampoline park and then we did our usual grocery run. That night J and I went out for a late Valentine's dinner, but not before I took a bath with my last Lush bath bomb. Our mall doesn't have a Lush so I stock up whenever I'm at one, but then I'm always so sad when I run out. I've tried several different ones and they all make your skin so soft. This one was the Dragon's Egg.

On Sunday we took the boys swimming at the rec center which meant they were passed out at 7pm. J and I watched the one and only season of End of the F***ing World on Netflix. It's about a 17 year old who believes he's a psychopath and ready to kill someone. He meets a new girl, Alyssa, and the two of them decide to take off on a road trip. I thought the acting was really well done and with only 8 episodes at 20 minutes each it's pretty easy to finish.

After staying up late watching the series, it felt so good to sleep in Monday. Despite falling asleep early, the kids didn't wake up until 8am. Win! We took it easy the rest of the day and played outside enjoying the 60 degree weather until the rain finally came.

I hope you had a wonderful weekend!

DIY Valentine Bird Feeders

Need a last minute Valentine's craft or school party project? Girl, I've got you covered. And I bet you already have everything you need to make it.

What You Need:
-1 cup Fruit Loops (more if your kids will eat most of them)
-Pipe Cleaners
-Ribbon or Yarn

What to Do:
1. String Fruit Loops onto a pipe cleaner. Leave about one inch uncovered on both sides
2. Bend both sides of the pipe cleaner inwards to create a heart shape
3. Twist ends together in the center and reshape if needed
4. Add ribbon/yard if desired (we hung some with ribbon and some without)

Hang outside and keep watch for the birds. My boys love checking on them each morning to see if any are eaten.

Weekend Recap

It's been way too long since I've done a weekend recap. We had absolutely zero plans this weekend which was perfect since we ended up getting freezing rain and ice.

Friday night I found my favorite book by one of my favorite people at Target. My pre-ordered signed copy was also delivered Saturday morning so to say I was a liiitttllle excited would be a understatement. If you haven't snagged a copy of this, get one now!

Due to icy roads we missed out on our usual donut Saturday, but these cinnamon rolls made up for it.

And because life is all about balance, I carefully drove the one minute drive to our neighborhood clubhouse to workout.

The boys and I did a super easy Valentine's craft which will be up on the blog tomorrow.

Later that evening I tried out this new wine I picked up during my trip to Target and J and I watched The Cloverfield Paradox on Netflix. We didn't think it was as good as 10 Cloverfield Lane, but still a good movie for date night from home.

Sunday morning brought even more ice which naturally meant it was time to make cookies.

Ben got a bunch of new games for Christmas and Wet Head is definitely one of our favorites. Just be prepared to get really wet.

Jack also worked on addressing his Valentines for his school party. This year we went with store bought ones and his Trollhunter loving heart was so happy.

By Sunday evening we were all going a little stir crazy and if I heard the boys fight one more time I was going to sell them both. We decided to make an escape to Mexican for dinner, the roads ended up being fine, and mama had a margarita so all was right with the world :)

I hope you all had a great weekend!

3 Ingredient Greek Dip

My friend Jaclyn made this dish for a white elephant party last Christmas and from the first bite I knew I needed to recreate it. It only has 3 ingredients and takes just few minutes to make so it's perfect if you need a list minute appetizer or just want something to snack on at home.

What You Need:
-10oz container of regular hummus
-1/4 cup Feta
-Cucumber peeled, sliced, and cut into fourths

What to Do:
-Spread the hummus on the bottom of a dish (I used 9 1/2 inch round but you can also use a 9X9)
-Crumble feta and sprinkle over hummus
-Place cucumber on top and cover until ready to eat

Jump Around: Ben's 9th Birthday

On January 29th this handsome fella turned 9 years old. And then promptly reminded me that he will be a teenager in 4 years. Cue the tears.

When your birthday falls on a school day it's not quite as fun as the weekend, but we made the most of it. Donuts and a candle in the morning.

I ate lunch with him at school and then that night we ate his favorite Olive Garden and had cake and presents. When the candles are trick ones, you have to blow extra hard :)

As Ben's gotten older I've traded in pretty Pinterest inspired parties for practical ones and I don't miss it one bit. Not having to clean and cook for a house full of wild kids is just as great as it sounds. A new SkyZone just opened in our town and it was perfect timing for a birthday party. The kids had so much fun and could go as crazy as they wanted.

And just like that another year has passed.
